UK Annual Dinner - Booking Now

Dear fellow Past Pupil,

We have decided to re-launch the UK Branch of the St Mary’s College C.S.Sp Union to connect with the many past pupils living and working in the UK.

Feedback on this initiative from UK based Past Pupils, over the past number of months, has been very encouraging and as a result we have decided to re-launch the UK Branch with an informal dinner.

The dinner will take place on Friday 16th of March on the eve of the Ireland v England Match in Twickenham which takes place on St Patrick’s Day.  If you are travelling over for the match it will be a great way to kick off your weekend.

The event will take place at 7pm in the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington and the cost is €45 per person.  We have negotiated a special rate for accommodation (£120.00stg  for single occupancy and £135.00 stg for double occupancy) with the Hotel.

This event is kindly sponsored by Conor Foley of WorldSpreads. This will be a great evening and guests are very welcome.

On line booking is available now on the Union web site at the following link https://www.stmarysppu.com/BookEventTickets.aspx

Our esteemed past pupil, former Irish International and British and Irish Lion Vincent Cunningham is our guest speaker for what promises to be a great and informal evening for networking and catching up.  We already expect a great turn out from our UK members and we would love to see as many there as possible for a most enjoyable evening.

Best wishes,
Steve Tracey

Memorial Mass

Date: Sunday 6th November 2011
Time: 11am
Venue:

St Mary’s College Chapel

A beautiful morning greeted all who attended the PPU annual Mass held in the College Chapel on Sunday 6th November. As usual, the mass was well attended by past pupils, friends and families of all those deceased past pupils of the College.

Fr. John Flavin C.S.Sp. celebrated the memorial mass and was joined by Fr Austin Healy C.S.Sp. and Fr. Michael Buckley C.S.Sp. During the mass, a list of all the deceased in the current year was read out by Fr. Flavin, whilst the President Steve Tracey and Vice President Peter Mac Giolla Riogh lit a candle to symbolise each past pupil that had passed away.

Prayers of the Faithful were read by Gareth Halpin (1998) with readings were given by George Walsh (1992) and Brother Dennis Hooper. The Celtic Choristars again provided some uplifting songs of praise throughout the ceremony and it was agreed by all that their contribution is invaluable to this ceremony year on year.

Our PPU President Steve Tracey (1986) concluded the ceremony by welcoming all guests and families and offering the Unions sincere condolences to those who had lost loved ones during the year. He also took the opportunity to thank the Celtic Choristers but in particular thanked Fr. John Flavin C.S.Sp., who has stepped down as President of the College after giving almost 15 years of loyal service. Stephen acknowledged that Fr. Flavin has been very supportive to the Union during his tenure as President and express the PPU’s sincere thanks and gratitude

We all enjoyed tea and coffee in the school canteen thereafter.
